šSourcing Tip Day 144: Use āProject Mentions Sourcingā on GitHub & Portfolio Sites
ā Many strong IT candidates donāt show their full skills on LinkedIn ā but they showcase real expertise in the āProjectsā section of GitHub, GitLab, Behance, Dribbble, or personal websites.
š¦How to use it:
šSearch for specific project keywords instead of job titles. Example: “Kubernetes” “Helm chart” project or “React” “dashboard” repo”.
šÆ Look at commit frequency, code quality, and project description.
Check contributors, collaborators, and people starring or forking the project.
Example (IT Role ā Full Stack Developer): Search GitHub repos containing: “React admin dashboard” AND “Node.js API”
Youāll find developers who have actually built what your role requires ā not just listed it on a CV.
This surfaces hands-on, high-quality talent who often fly under the radar.
