Most recruiters rely heavily on LinkedIn, Indeed, or Monster, which are global job boards.
While these platforms have large reach, they don’t always cover the full talent pool in every country.
Many professionals, especially in local or regional markets, prefer to use their country’s homegrown job boards because they are more familiar, accessible in local languages, and trusted by employers in that region.
If you only stick to global platforms, you might miss a large group of qualified candidates.
Examples of country-specific job boards
India → Naukri.com, Shine.com
Germany → Xing (like LinkedIn but more localized), StepStone
China → Zhaopin, 51job
Australia → Seek
Middle East → Bayt, Naukrigulf
Southeast Asia → JobStreet, JobsDB
France → APEC, Cadremploi
These sites are often the go-to platform for local job seekers, sometimes even more popular than LinkedIn in that region.
How to use them effectively
1. Direct search on the platform – Create recruiter accounts (many boards offer employer or recruiter access). You can filter candidates by skills, location, industry, or experience level.
2. Boolean search via Google – If you don’t have access or want to bypass limited filters, you can use Google advanced search operators. Example:
site:naukri.com “supply chain analyst” “Pune”
This pulls results directly from the site into Google.
3. Build a list of regional boards – Maintain a spreadsheet of job boards country by country. Whenever you have a new international role, check the relevant board first.
4. Engage candidates outside LinkedIn – Many professionals who use these job boards may not be active on LinkedIn at all. By reaching out on the platform they use (or through email/phone details in their CV), you increase your response rate.
Benefits of this strategy
✅ Access hidden talent pools that competitors may ignore.
✅ Faster sourcing in markets where LinkedIn penetration is low.
✅ Build a more diverse candidate pipeline, especially for global hiring.
✅ Helps when hiring niche or local roles that global platforms don’t cover well.
👉 In short: Global platforms show you part of the picture. Local job boards give you the complete picture.
