Anti-nepotism policies exist to ensure that individuals can’t supervise, discipline, work with, or have any influence over the recruitment, salary or promotion of a close relative.

Organisations may implement an anti-nepotism policy to protect against favouritism resulting from nepotism, which can lead to tension in the workplace, as well as low morale and job satisfaction amongst the other employees.

A good anti-nepotism policy should also prevent issues occurring that could be deemed ‘awkward’, such as becoming involved in a family argument.
